Fourth Time Lucky

I decided nearly two years ago that I should start blogging. I am always coming up with random thoughts and I love writing, so I thought getting on the blogging bandwagon would be a good idea. I diligently found this online blog site, designed a page, came up with a title, did everything I needed to get started. I sat back, satisfied, in naive belief that the hard part was done.

Since then, I have started this blog three times (now the fourth), and have over a dozen unfinished posts sitting there staring at me and making me feel guilty. For some reason, I just haven't been able to get going.

It did make me start wondering about passions. These days, people are always talking about "finding your passions" and "doing what you love". When asked, I frequently tell people that writing is one of my passions. I honestly believe it is, and it certainly was something I enjoyed very much and did a lot of as a child. But the older I get, the less I seem to be able to produce. It made me wonder - is writing really my passion if I don't devote any time and energy to it?

This brings me to the point of this blog. My opinion is that you can't call something your passion if you can't be bothered doing it. As it is nearing the beginning of 2011 and I love making resolutions, I have resolved to write more. I realised that I prefer writing by hand, so I've bought a small notebook that I carry with me everywhere. I keep my ideas in the notebook until they're ready for posting on this blog.

Will this make a difference? I wish I could say that it's going to be perfect this time and that I am so motivated and dedicated, but the truth is that despite my good intentions I could very well be deleting this and starting a new "intro post" in six months' time.

But let's stay positive. Please keep your fingers crossed for me and hope that there are more posts here very soon.

Over and out.
